My advanced language arts teacher is a space alien from planet Xenafanatia.
She’s actually an OK teacher. I mean, she’s not strict or boring or anything, but the way she smiles is super creepy, I kid you not. If you look at her for a couple of seconds, she notices and automatically turns her head and stares at you for a minute, then smiles wide. Uuuooogghhh. Scary. And if you say something she finds funny, she will clutch her sides and bend down and laugh hysterically. A shudder-worthy Dr. Frankenstein-esque laugh. I had a nightmare about her laughing before.
“Do you always laugh like that?”
Anyway, my crazy language-arts teacher brought in a bunch of Xena: Warrior Princess DVDs today. She continued to explain how she absolutely loved the TV show series, and she once went to some kind of comic convention and actually got the people from Xena to autograph her shirt. Turns out that her husband actually got her Xena’s chakram for their 25th anniversary–talk about geeky. I’m a bit of a geek myself (I play the Sims obsessively, and I’m able to have a conversation with someone completely in HTML) but not to that extent. Then we got to actually WATCH the DVDs, and it was kind of funny to watch Xena whacking enemies in the head and yelling her battle cry while doing so.
For the rest of the day, everyone ran around crying A-yay-yie-yie-ya-yee-ha! I couldn’t get it out of my head for a week.
